The Math Department's Annual Math Festival

Date: Wednesday, April 29th.

Location: Sonoma State University Campus

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics invites you to our annual Math Festival, a celebration of its students, faculty, and staff. This event consists of three parts:

  •  A Student Gallery of Scholarly Works from 11am - 1 pm in the Darwin Lobby;
  • A special M*A*T*H Colloquium presentation by Benjamin-Blum Smith from Johns Hopkins University titled "Mathematics & Democracy: A Manifesto" from 4 pm - 5 pm in Darwin 103 or over Zoom;
  • A Departmental Banquet Dinner and Awards Ceremony from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at Sally Tomatoes on 1100 Valley House Drive in Rohnert Park.

PAST MATH EVENTS, Spring 2026

SK Day: Saturday, Feb. 21st from 9 am - 2:30 pm; Location: Sonoma State University campus

You are invited to the SSU campus to honor the life of Sonia Kovalevsky, the first woman to receive her PhD in Mathematics, and to celebrate the participation of all women in mathematics, statistics, and data science.  The event will include hands-on workshops, a problem "palooza" and gallery walk, a career panel, special workshops for parents and teachers, and many opportunities to network with local students and professionals in a dynamic format.  There is no registration fee and lunch will be provided.
